FOX WILL BUY REMAINING SHARES OF FOX SPORTS INTERNATIONAL

BLOOMBERG reports Fox Entertainment Group will exercise its option to buy the 50% stake of production and programming company Fox Sports International from Liberty Media that it does not already own for about $94.6M in stock (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 8/8).


PEPSICO ANNOUNCES ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES

The AP reports that PepsiCo Inc. announced changes that "will combine and reshuffle a number of its drink and snack businesses to cut costs, improve efficiency and ensure cooperation." Among the changes are a merging of "its international Pepsi-Cola, Tropicana and Gatorade businesses into a single division, PepsiCo Beverages International," which will be led by Pepsi-Cola Int’l President & CEO Peter Thompson (AP/BOSTON GLOBE, 8/8).


NHL & ICONGO ENTER E-COMMERCE AGREEMENT

The NHL has selected Montreal-based iCongo Inc. to create, manage and host its NHL Online Exchange, a business-to-business portal and trading exchange. The exchange is the first for a pro league and it will provide NHL retailers and licensees with an e-commerce platform to buy and sell licensed merchandise over the Internet and receive NHL content, news and promotions (THE DAILY).


WOOSNAM REPLACES CADDIE WITH REHAB SPECIALIST

REUTERS reports that golfer Ian Woosnam will employ physiotherapist Nick Hooper as his caddy after firing his previous caddy after he made two highly-publicized mistakes. Woosnam: "I’ve had occurring back trouble for years and if I want to keep playing to any kind of decent standard I need to take on a full-time physiotherapist"

Tonight the Mystics are expecting their 1 millionth fan when they play the Sol at MCI Center. The fan will be celebrated with sirens, a sash and crown. The fan will also receive an official team jersey and a team-autographed ball (THE DAILY)….The city government of Shanghai, China, officially announced the Shanghai Super Prix marking the first motor sport event in China. CA-based Auto Racing Legends has been contracted by Shanghai to co-organize the event (THE DAILY)….Joe Paterno was awarded the John Wanamaker Masonic Humanitarian Medal, which is given to a non-Mason who supports the ideas and philosophies of the Masonic Fraternity, by the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of PA (THE DAILY).
