SKY HIGH: FINAL NIELSEN RATINGS IN FOR NBC’S NASCAR DEBUT

NBC’s coverage of the Pepsi 400 from 8:00-11:15pm ET earned a 6.1/13 national Nielsen rating, making it network TV’s highest-rated program Saturday night. From 8:00-11:00pm ET Saturday, NBC earned a 4.4 rating in the male 18-49 demo, compared to CBS’ 1.6, ABC’s 2.2 and Fox’ 2.5 rating in the same demo. NBC Sports estimates that 25 million viewers watched all or part of the telecast (THE DAILY).


ROMNEY MUM ON HIS FAVORITE FOR IOC PRESIDENT

The DESERET NEWS reports SLOC President Mitt Romney "isn't saying who'd be the best IOC president," but "offered praise" Tuesday for Korean IOC VP Kim Un-Yong, "the only one of the five candidates disciplined in the Salt Lake bid scandal." Romney: "I think Mr. Kim brings many strengths to his candidacy that overshadow the skepticism and concerns about what may have happened" (DESERET NEWS, 7/10).


SOUTHERN MAN: NBDL TEAM NAMES PRESIDENT

Southern Conference Commissioner Alfred White, who also once worked for the NCAA, has been named president of the NBDL’s Asheville franchise (THE DAILY).


AVERAGE TICKET PRICE FOR CONCERTS HITS NEW HIGH

USA TODAY cites a report from concert trade publication Pollstar showing the average concert ticket price during the first six months of this year was $46.69, a 4.2% increase from the same period last year. The report also shows ticket sales were down 15.5% this year compared with the first six months of ’00 (USA TODAY, 7/10).
